    This programme aims to build on the technical knowledge, coaching skills and competences of Level 7 Sports graduates to enable them to make a significant contribution to sports development, at both local and national levels in Ireland.

    Learning Outcomes
    On successful completion of this programme graduates will be able to:
    • Engage in critical analysis and debate current strategic issues affecting the leisure/sport sector
    • Have the ability to conduct academic research and present findings
    • Apply theoretical models within exercise science and psychology to physical activity and training programmes, towards the improvement of both team and individual performance
    • Design, teach and evaluate inclusive physical activity programmes, that integrate effectively with curriculum goals and aspirations
    • Organise and coach children and young adults on a range of sports programmes at an NGB Level Coach 2 standard.
    Are there follow-up Programmes Available?
    Currently approval (based on the completion of additional modules)is being sought from the Teacher's Registration Council for recognition of this degree in terms of Physical Education Teaching.
    Further Physical Education progression routes are being explored with the Universities in Ireland.
    Career Opportunities
    It is expected that graduates will gain employment at a supervisory or managerial level within the Leisure Industry, and in particular; Sports Development, Youth Work, National Governing Bodies, Sports Partnerships, Community and Club sporting organisations, Leisure Management, Schools and Colleges.
